A Fast & Furious Icon Reimagined.
Best supporting actor
It’s not the hero car, but carries it’s own amount of cult weight. To some of us, even more memorable than anything else of the era.
This Ford F-150 Lightning is one of them, made famous through its connection to the The Fast and the Furious franchise. When the opportunity came up to purchase one, we didn’t hesitate. Like us, the previous owner understood exactly what this vehicle represents.
Road trip collection
Scott and Brodie headed up to Queensland to collect the Lightning, bringing it back via trailer to ensure it arrived safely at STASH.
From the moment it landed in our hands, the vision was clear: return it to stock, make it period-correct, and honour its place in Fast & Furious history.
Back to Factory: Restoring Authenticity
Over time, the Lightning had picked up a number of aftermarket modifications. While well intentioned, they took away from the original look that made the truck so iconic.
Bringing it back meant sourcing the right parts was no easy task. Because of the vehicle’s age and its older Australian RHD conversion, most components simply weren’t available locally.
Like most niche American builds, the correct parts had to be sourced directly from the United States.
Restoration Work Included:
Full mechanical refresh: brakes, suspension, and complete service
Returning headlights and taillights to factory specification, including new globes
Replacing worn interior buttons and switchgear
Restoring the wheels and returning them to factory silver
Removing an aftermarket grille to reveal and restore the original factory grille
Repainting the front bumper to correct imperfections
Fitting new front and rear Ford badges
Each step brought the Lightning closer to how it should have always looked.
The STASH Detail Process
Once the mechanical work and factory restoration were complete, it was time for Brodie to take over, transforming the Lightning into it’s best self.
Exterior Detail
The process began with a full wash and prep using AMMO foam to safely remove contaminants.
From there, the truck was moved into the detailing bay, where the real work began.
The original American paint, known for being softer and thinner, required a careful and precise approach. Using an AMMO Waffle polishing pad and AMMO Exfoliate polishing fluid, the entire vehicle was polished to restore depth and clarity while preserving the integrity of the paint. Once corrected, all painted surfaces were protected with AMMO Reflex Pro II ceramic coating, delivering long-term protection and a deep, glossy finish.
Final exterior touches included:
AMMO Frame Pro Trim Coat applied to black plastic side steps and rear bumper
Freshly restored wheels finished with AMMO Gelee Pro Wheel Coating
Interior Refresh
With the exterior complete, attention turned inside.
The cabin was given a full detail using AMMO Lather Interior Cleanser and AMMO Shag Fabric Cleaner, lifting the interior back to a clean, factory fresh feel while maintaining its original character.
The Finishing Touches
With the restoration and detailing complete, it was time to make it unmistakably STASH.
As our small collection of cars grows, it makes sense to grab the plates. The car proudly wears STASH2 - a fitting signature for a car that now represents our brand as much as its past.
Then came the final detail - appropriating the iconic Racer’s Edge signage into our own.
Shop the look
We had so much fun making the car what it is and given people’s enthusiasm for the car, we designed a limited run of apparel giving a nod to the car and its place in the culture.
These are available for purchase online or in store at STASH!
